Director's Note

Ganesh Babu

Despite the geopolitical risks and low oil prices impacting the Middle Eastern Region, the construction industry however remains optimistic about its prospects. We see positive market fundamentals in 2016, including infrastructure investment & connectivity, offering potentially good prospects in the real estate market for well specified developments to continue its growth path and avoid another boom-bust-cycle.

With a number of quality office schemes in prime areas due for completion in 2016, the trend seems to be towards more mixed use developments.

Following a considerable number of project launches in 2015, contributing to a strong Residential pipeline for the Middle East, we predict that the focus in 2016 will turn to project delivery.

With a maturing sector, long term infrastructure spending commitments and event-driven investments (Expo 2020 Dubai and 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar), it is crucial for the project holders and solution providers alike to capitalize on a business platform like ours.

Be it finding the right suppliers to bring your projects in on time, or catering to the right projects - the right decision always requires careful planning and extensive market research. We understand the business and financial value of your decisions, which is why we work closely with you to identify and offer the best match for your requirements and specifications.

Despite declines in some performance metrics in the Middle Eastern Real Estate Market in 2015, we saw 22.2 % increase in business deals facilitated by IDE; With as many as 960 projects and 180 product & service categories represented across the Middle Eastern Region.

Investor activity in real estate sector is set for uptick in 2016 riding on reforms - foreign real estate developers have infused billions of dollars into places such as Oman, Qatar, Dubai, Saudi Arabia and other countries in the Middle East region, pushing the growth of this market.
